The Tale of Turbo

Brief biography

  • Full name: Dr. Turbo Tornado, M.D.
  • Birthday: July 27
  • Hometown: Bridgeport, Texas

Origin story

Once upon a time, there was a lonely tornado named Turbo. He'd spun up one day near Bridgeport and tried and tried to make friends, but people kept screaming and running away.

"What's so wrong with me?" he asked himself. "I'm a nice tornado. I'm a smart tornado. I was at the top of my class at Tornado University Medical. But nobody wants me to hang around."

He spun and spun in his sadness until he came upon the Trinity River.

"I'll stop and get a sip of water," he said. "That will make me feel better."

He took a big gulp of tasty river water. All of the sudden, the current grabbed him by the funnel!

"Oh no!" he said, yelling at the river. "Where are you taking me?"

He closed his eyes in fear. After what felt like ages, he felt himself being pulled to a stop. He opened his eyes and found himself face-to-face with a mighty, bearded man wearing a lab coat. The man had hooked him with a fishing pole. He was straining and clearly out of breath.

"You saved me!" said Turbo. "Whom do I have to thank for this heroic act?"

"My name is Troy Langston," said the burly man. "I'm the principal of a brand-new school for students who want to work in medicine."

"Nice to meet you!" exclaimed Turbo. "You might not know it by looking at me, but I'm a medical doctor. Despite that, nobody wants to be my friend. Do you think I could fit in at your school?"

Mr. Langston pondered for a moment. Just then, an idea popped into his head.

"We need a mascot!" Mr. Langston declared.

Turbo began to tear up. Fish and algae poured from his eyes.

"You saved my life, sir," he finally said through his sniffles. "I would love to be your mascot."

Mr. Langston leapt for joy, a smile plastered across his face.

"Excellent!," he said. "But my good sir, what's your name?"

Turbo grinned.

"My name is Dr. Turbo Tornado, and I'm ready to help you take America by storm!"

Turbo picked up Mr. Langston into his funnel and placed him on a chair that he'd found on the riverbank. The two of them spun into the sunset.
